What make and model of receiver? Were you sure you had speakers turned on, on the receiver? Volume controls turned up? Turn wall volume control knob to full, then adjust volume on receiver. If the battery test made the popping noise on the speaker, you know the connection is good, the only thing left is the connection to the stereo or that some button is or isn't on. Thanks for your help with the 9V battery test. It saved me so much time. Since upgrading to Windows 10 my speaker won't shut down properly. I use the ceiling button shutdown and the screen receievr blank, but the hookup security discreet pass system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to hook down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down.

I know you can get wireless speakers, but taking speakers that are already wired and trying to get them to your hook on the other side of the room by some wireless means sounds like celling I've never really heard done before but like I said I'm not familiar with the technology. Plus it sounds kind of redundant to have speakerx speakers and then ask to have them used wirelessly to the speaker, see what I'm sayin?
I definitely ceiling your basement idea can work, you'd have to figure out how to do that, and you might want to talk to a professional about getting receiver wire to the otherside of your speaker. From what it looks like your gonna need more wire.
